Rajasthan Royals have been the Most underrated team in recent Times. Since winning the inaugural Season of IPL, they have never managed to enter the Final. They are always tagged as “Underdogs” of the IPL.
Rajasthan have already made an interesting move by trading their former Captain Ajinkya Rahane for the duo of Rahul Tewatia and Mayank Markande from Delhi Capitals. But they managed to get experienced Robie Uthappa as a Like for like replacement of Rahane in Auction.
Rajasthan Royals have one of the most reliable overseas line-ups for the upcoming season. If their four foreign stars can remain fit and in form, this team could go all the way in the tournament. They form the Core of the Team with few promising Indian players like Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Jaydev Unadkat, Shreyas Gopal, and Mayank Markhande.
Jos Buttler is currently one of the Best wicket keeper Batsman in the World. He has a Big Responsibility on his Shoulder of not just providing the team with a flying start, but also mix caution with aggression and play some big innings for RR if they are to have any chance of making it through to the playoffs.
RR have 2 Options for the Second Opener’s Slot. They can Either go with young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal who is looking in terrific Touch even in the Nets of Rajasthan Royals’ Camp, or go with a player who has been playing IPL for last 12 Years and has proven his ability every now and then – Robbie Uthappa.
Sanju Samson, one of Rajasthan Royals’ mainstay for a number of years will be a crucial cog in the team’s Top-order. He will likely to be playing No. 3’s Role for RR this season.
Captain Steve Smith and the Man who is in Form of his Life, Ben Stokes will form the “Backbone” of RR’s Batting lineup. These two were straightforward Picks and needs no Explanation.
One of the finds of the 2019 IPL season, Assam’s Riyan Parag played with a level of maturity that belief his tender age of 17 (Age during that IPL). The youngster showed that he possesses enough cricketing brain to mix his game with running between the wickets and boundaries in equal measure. He was calm in crunch Situations and that is his Biggest strength.
Shreyas Goyal has taken 31 Wickets from 25 matches in last two seasons and has been one of the most underrated bowler of IPL. The wickets in UAE are expected to be slow and low which will suite his game. So we can expect another good campaign from the karnataka lad. He didn’t got chance to showcase his batting prowess but he is capable to Bat as and when required.
Jofra Archer has been key bowler for RR ever since he joined them in 2018. But he is likely to miss the entire IPL after scans revealed a low-grade stress fracture to his elbow. So Tom Curran will get chance to take his place and show why he has been one of the Regular member for England’s T20I Team.
RR also have good Backup All Rounder in Mahipal Lomror who can Bat anywhere in the Order and Bowl Left arm spin with accuracy as well.
Jaydev Unadkat has been on a high after captaining Saurashtra to the Ranji Trophy title and becoming the highest wicket-taking pacer in a Ranji Trophy season. Having failed to deliver for RR in the last two seasons of the IPL, he would like to make amends and prove his worth to the franchise this season.
For Third Seamer, RR have option to go with Either of Varun Aaron or Ankit Rajpoot. While Aaron was expensive in the five games he played last season, Rajpoot is a new face in the Rajasthan Royals outfit. Playing for Kings XI Punjab in the last two seasons, Rajpoot had mixed returns with 14 wickets from 12 matches at a high economy rate. However, with the UP seamer in really good form in domestic cricket, it wouldn’t be a major surprise if Varun Aaron misses out from the RR XI.
Last Spot will be taken by Mayank Markande. He had a Great start in the IPL with Mumbai Indians against CSK where he claimed 3 Big Wickets including the Wicket of MS Dhoni. If RR require more Batting Depth than they can go With All Rounders like Rahul Tewatia or Mahipal Lomror in place of Markande depending on the type of Wicket.
